A Brief History

We started a club for a couple purposes: 1- to try new restaurants and new food 2- to keep up with girlfriends that we don't see often enough.

It started as an off-shoot of a restaurant review I started writing for a singles group newsletter. Reviews combined two of my favorite things: eating out and making snarky comments. I would go to new places monthly and take a chance on something unusual, or opt for something familiar as the mood struck and then write a little review more for my own entertainment than the edification of my peers. Often I would invite friends to come along. The first time the members of Third Thursday met was to write a review of a local steak house, Bastians. That was the last review, unfortunately. The newsletter fizzled out, but these friends and I went out a couple more times over the next couple months. I noticed a pattern developing and wanted to encourage it. We decided to meet every month, on the third Thursday.

Of course, we rarely do meet on third Thursday, but that's part of the charm.

We have a revolving list of characters that attend, and we open the invitation to anyone. They don't need to actually eat dinner, though what would the fun of that be? The only condition is that no one walks away from the table with just a "I don't have anything interesting to share this month." We're there to eat and listen to each others stories with an emphasis on the stories. Anything said around the table stays at the table.
So, our updates will mostly be reviews of restaurants around Denver and Salt Lake (we're spreading the fun to a new state!)
It's fun to look back at the past restaurants, and try to remember dishes we tasted, so there may be a fair dash of old reviews in here as well.
